Australian Curriculum: Digital Technologies

This Year 3/4 Digital Technologies "Eco Engineers" unit continues on from the Design and Technologies learning activities. This unit continues to provide students opportunites to investigate and implement their ethical and personal responsibility when communicating with the internet, specifically blogging. 

Students will engage and participate in communicating and sharing their sustainable knowledge as well as their sustainable house creation using digital technologies. Students will discover and enhance their internet safety and skills as well as using digital technologies to present information.

Content Descriptor: 

Work with others to plan the creation and communication of ideas and information safely, applying agreed ethical and social protocols (ACTDIP013)

Elaborations:
  • Using a range of online tools to share information and being aware that information may be received at different times, for example adding entries to a class blog, participating in a web conference or online chat with an author, or participating in a forum on a specific topic.

  • Discussing digital citizenship rules and behaviours for participating in an online environment, for example not using all capital letters when expressing a strong viewpoint about a contentious matter and ensuring that the audience is aware of your identity

  • Making ethical decisions when faced with reporting inappropriate online behaviour or acknowledging digital products created by others, for example making a decision based on how individuals would like to be treated by others

Task 4 - Present it! 

Students final assessment. Students will share with their group their sustainable house in both dimensions and reflect on their journey through Eco Engineers.
